An Interview with Francesc Miralles

Born in Barcelona, Francesc Miralles has written many best-selling books and received several prestigious literary awards. As well as fiction, he has published extensively in the self-help, coaching and inspirational field. Love in Small Letters is his most famous and acclaimed book to date.

1) What led you into writing?

The solitude and the desire to share with other lonely souls the mysteries of everyday life.

2) What was your earliest career aspiration?

When I was a child, I wanted to be an astronaut.

3) Can you describe your latest book Love in Small Letters and its inspiration in thirty words?

This is the story of a lonely professor, a cat that belongs to nobody, a Moon investigator and the way chance puts into our life all the magic we need.

4) Do you have any plans for your next book?

I’m working on a very short book about spiritual wisdom.

5) What has been the most exciting moment in your career?

The publishing of Love in Small Letters in English.

6) What are you reading right now?

Joe Gould’s Secret by Joseph Mitchell

7) If you could have dinner with any three people, past or present, who would they be?

I would have dinner with three good friends of the present.

8) Which period in history would you most like to have lived through?

This period is okay for me, but I would have liked to see the Beatles live.

9) If your house was on fire, which three books would you save from the flames?

The Magus by John Fowles, Demian by Herman Hesse and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

10) What do you do to relax?

I drink green tea and look out the window.
