Camille Selden was the nom de plume of Elise Krinitz (1825–96), a German-born novelist, biographer, translator and literary critic who spent most of her life in France. She is best

remembered for her role as companion and muse to Heinrich Heine during the last eight months of his life, an experience she recounted in The Last Days of Heinrich Heine (1884).
